Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers
Preparations are underway for 2021. We are most excited to see enquiries and interest in our school increasing, with enrolments for next year reflecting this. After careful consideration of these numbers and evaluation of our school resources we have decided to alter the class structure for next year.
In 2021 the class structure will be as follows:
Two Grade Prep classes
Four Grade 1 / 2 classes
Four Grade 3 / 4 classes
Three Grade 5 / 6 classes
We are confident that this structure will allow us to ably address a differentiated curriculum delivery while maintaining staff collaboration, sharing of expertise and the building of exemplary practice. The structure also allows for opportunities to explore greater flexibility in creating class lists and grouping students to advantage.
In addition to class teachers, each level neighbourhood will have a part time support teacher and Education Support Officers to assist in catering for the diverse learning needs of the students.
Specialist subjects for next year will include:
STEAM (Science, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics)
Italian
Physical Education and
Performing Arts (Dance, Drama and Music)
Staff allocated to these roles will be announced in a few weeks once these positions have been finalised.
School Advisory Committee
Congratulations to the parents who have been nominated for the School advisory Committee!
We are excited to welcome Mairead Taylor to this group and look forward to working together next year!
Temperature Checks
In line with current advice, we are no longer checking students’ temperatures every morning. However we will continue to take temperatures of students who complain of feeling unwell.
It has been a busy couple of weeks in the 1/2 Neighbourhood. We have been learning about the habit of mind of striving for accuracy and precision and building our creative minds during our Integrated unit. We have also begun our Footsteps lessons on Wednesdays. We had a wonderful time learning a choreographed dance to Eye of the Tiger this week. This means that our Big Write sessions will be held on Fridays from now on. Make sure you look out for the stimulus on Seesaw. In Maths we have been learning about groups of. We can recognise multiplication as repeated addition and make arrays to prove our understanding.
The 1/2 Team
The 5/6 students have been enjoying learning new dance moves through the Footsteps dance program. It has been great to see everyone getting involved and having a fantastic time!

Bishop-Elect Gregory Bennet: POSTPONEMENT! In light of the current circumstances of Covid-19 restrictions in the State of Victoria and following the announcement of “Steps” by Premier Andrews for Regional Victoria and Metropolitan Melbourne, it is necessary to postpone the planned Ordination and Installation of Bishop-Elect Gregory Bennet which had been scheduled by 20th October at St. Mary’s Cathedral Sale. The steps for Regional Victoria prevent public religious worship within the Cathedral and other settings (with special exemption for restricted funerals) until 23rd November 2020. Once the Diocese is able to receive advice that we are able to proceed with the liturgy of Ordination and Installation of Bishop-Elect Bennet you will be notified immediately. As you would understand the liturgy will respect all restrictions as required. In any event the Ordination will be live-streamed in order that we can gather as One people in faith in welcoming our new bishop among us.
A list of live streams across the Diocese is on cdsale.org.au/coronavirus page. This page has listed the Mass times which occur regularly, ie. Don’t change from week to week.
We have been emailing and sending out important communications from the Diocese and if you would like to be involved and receive this information then please contact the Parish Office on 56 721 111 or email your details to wonthaggi@cdsale.org.au.
